As a surfer and owner of a surf academy called Tidal Wave in Tamarindo, Costa Rica. I have learned a lot about the effect of lunar phases on currents and the different types of tides. I have also learned much about how Tamarindo works and all the factors contributing to a good session in this amazing spot.
Lunar Phases
The Moon has a strong effect on tides. The Moon's gravitational pull pulls the water in the oceans, creating two bulges of water: one on the side of the Earth facing the Moon and one on the side of the Earth facing away from the Moon. These bulges are what we call tides.
Different Types of Tides.

This is because the Moon and the Sun are aligned, which increases their gravitational pull on Earth. Neap tides are the lowest tides and occur when the Moon is in the first or third quarter. This is because the Moon and the Sun are at an angle, which reduces their gravitational pull on Earth.
